Disneyland Park Hopping & Rides
Being first-timers at Disneyland, it took us a while to figure out the multiple parks, and the theme of each park. Traveling outside of the tourist-season meant we didn’t have to wait too long in lines for rides. There is always some waiting, but nothing too crazy. Soaking wet, bumpy rides and a few surprises, I’d say Disneyland was a huge success.
Most memorable was the Hollywood Tower Hotel. And probably the biggest surprise. Having been in Los Angeles for a few days by now, and having gotten used to nothing being quite as it seemed, I figured the HTH ride was the same – a lot of effects and bells and whistles, and I managed to convince both myself, my sister and our friend that this was all for show and nothing to worry about. Imagine our massive surprise when the “elevator” of HTH went so fast up and down we were literally weightless. We were completely shocked and unprepared for when the “elevator doors” opened up, and we were looking out at the park for real. You can see our surprise clearly in the HTH-picture. Bottom right, that’s us. Screaming louder than anyone else…
Speaking of screaming. California Screamin’ is a screamingly fun ride. That is, until they hit the breaks at the end of the ride and motion sickness kicks inn with full force! A few minutes of fun on the roller-coaster ended up with hours laid out on a bench, unable to move less I wanted to throw up. Seeing as I absolutely hate throwing up, I was stuck on that bench, holding my head very still. Next time I’ll know to take a pill for motion sickness before getting on any kind of rides. I missed out on several hours of fun.
To fully enjoy Disneyland, you need more than one day. We didn’t get to see even half of what the parks have to offer. Disneyland offers multi-day tickets at a discount, so if you’re in California for an extended stay, I would strongly recommend this.
