Lac de la Croix

Cross Lake, or Lac de la Croix, just outside Shreveport is a gorgeous place with a public park off to one side and really fancy villas at the edge of the water a little further up the lake.

My fascination was with the cypress trees and how they literally grow out of the water. That is, until I was told how alligators and other wildlife thrive in this lake. I have to admit I did keep an eye on anywhere these creatures might hide. I had no plans of becoming their dinner. I did end up dinner for some seriously huge mosquitoes and other bugs. If not for the bugs and wildlife that can eat you, this would be a gorgeous place to live.
