That Big Red Bridge
Even if “vacation rules” state that you can sleep in regardless of what day it is, you can’t help but wake up early on your first day in San Francisco. You know you’re limited on time, and there is just too much to see and do. One of the things every tourist “has to” do in San Francisco is see the Golden Gate Bridge. You just can’t go home and not have seen The Red Bridge. So starting off our sightseeing right, yup, we went to see a bridge. Some people cross the whole bridge, we opted to walk only partway out. If you just want a few shots of yourself on the bridge, and you’re eager to get moving on to the next sight, that’s all you need.
But you do hit the souvenir shop and leave a bit of money on useless crap that you take home with you to your family and friends. Then you have to take a picture of the statue of the guy who designed the bridge (that would be Joseph Strauss), pretend to “grab” the bridge cause you’re a giant and the bridge is tiny (must be a billion pictures like that all over the world), and even get a shot of a random guy on a surfboard paddling his way over the bay. The island of Alcatraz was “right there” but we never went to sight-see that. We only had another day and wanted to see something else. San Francisco has a lot to offer, and we’d need at least a week to see even half of them.
