Venice Beach; Character Or Tourist Trap?
Venice Beach isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. Granted we didn’t walk all the way up or anything, but what we saw was kinda…touristy. And off-putting. Too many people and not a whole lot to do, other than sun and sand and people-watching.
There were a lot of tourists doing their tourist-trap shopping. Even we fell for the street vendors and bought some head gear for everyone we know. We didn’t see too many natives, probably the wrong time of year for that.
Venice Beach seems to sell a lot of clothes. That, and food. You couldn’t walk more than three steps before someone was trying to sell you something. From what I saw, it was as if Venice Beach was trying too hard to be different and unique. Sure it has character, but like with everything else in Los Angeles, it’s all about the Hollywood glam.
At least it was sunny and not a cloud in sight. And not too crowded. A bonus to traveling outside of peek season.
I did like a lot of the architecture though, like this blue house. It was for lease for either a shop or a restaurant, and it kinda is perfect for just that. I keep imagining a bakery and coffee shop. With lots and lots of cupcakes. Cupcakes seems like a good fit at Venice Beach.
